Musicum is a student committee structure, consisting of five music students, with the aim to make the School of Music a better place for all the students. This is achieved by creating a special environment at the Conservatory and to promote Music as a subject on campus. We believe music students should be part of campus life, and vice versa. Musicum serves to connect people through social and academic networks.
Musicum believes strongly that “Music Makes the Mind Grow” and we strive to help fellow students where we can. The Musicum committee members for 2017 are:
Socials that have been held at the Conservatory thus far are Musical Bingo, Braai Day and Mini Doughnut Day. These socials will be held throughout the year.
We played Musical Bingo with the students in our student meeting period. Prizes that were awarded included food vouchers, a bottle of wine and Music sweaters.
We held fundraisers like the Mini Doughnut Day in order to raise funds to brighten up our courtyard with new flowers.
We held a social in our courtyard for the music students as an initiative to get to know each other.
