The Philosophy Essay Prize is an annual competition run by the School of Philosophy at North-West University. In order to enter, you have to be a student in our department, or a student enrolled for an “Understanding the World” module.The competition has two categories: Undergraduate and Postgraduate. In each category, three prizes will be awarded: R2,000 for first prize, R1,500 for second prize, and R1,000 for third prize.The aims of this prize are twofold: first, to widen interest in philosophy and in the continued study of philosophy at our university; and second, to recognise talented young scholars in our School.
