Population Studies graduates are in demand in southern Africa. They may find employment in various government departments such as Statistics South Africa, where they are involved in collecting, processing and analysing data for planning; in non-governmental organisations; civic organisations; international development agencies; academic and research institutions, and national and provincial population units that undertake demographic and related activities.
Why study Population Studies and Demography?
The Population Studies and Demography programme offers programmes in Population Studies at bachelor’s-degree, postgraduate-diploma, honours-degree, master’s-degree and doctorate levels. Students are equipped with knowledge and skills in demographic analysis, and population and development interrelationships needed by implementers of population policies and integrated population-related programmes.
