The HPI
The High Performance Institute of Sport (HPI) is located on the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University. Potchefstroom has become the preferred training venue for many international, national and local sport teams and individuals because of the excellent training facilities, the altitude, sports medical and scientific services as well as our hospitality and good weather.
The HPI is an internationally recognised multifunctional and multi-disciplinary facility better described as a "one-stop" shop for elite high performance athletes as well as for sports development.
The Conservatory
The School of Music & Conservatory at North-West University offers exceptional music instruction in a variety of instruments and genres. Students have the opportunity to develop their music skills within our various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, from diploma to doctoral level.
Our study programmes offer students a wide choice of study areas, from performance, composition and choral conducting to methodology and music education, music theory and musicology (including African music and popular music), and music technology.
Main Building - NWU Potchefstroom Campus
Five students and two lecturers – that was the sum total of the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education (PU for CHE) when it started out more than a century ago. How times have changed. By 2004, when it became the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University, the former PU for CHE had more than 25 000 students and 500 lecturers.

Potchefstroom Town
Potchefstroom is an academic city and hosts the Potchefstroom Campus of the North-West University.
