MACHINE TRANSLATION AND AUTSHUMATO

Machine translation is the process of automatically translating one human language into another language by use of a computer system. A distinction can be made within the paradigm of machine translation between human-aided machine translation and machine-aided human translation. Machine-aided human translation incorporates Translation Tools that assist human translators in doing translations.

Machine Translation Tools can be broadly defined as software that simulates the process of human translation, or as software that can be used to assist human translators in their work.

CTexT is currently involved in a machine translation project that was funded by die South African Department of Arts and Culture. Autshumato is freely available as open source software. Visit the Austhumato website.
