Piano

The piano division is an integral part of performance studies at the NWU School of Music. Top-class instruction is provided by the distinguished and devoted piano lecturers who have all earned doctoral degrees in piano performance.

Piano students are taught fundamental and technical skills on the keyboard, as well as interpretative and other musical aspects of piano performance. Students are also given opportunities to enrich their piano studies by participating in master classes with South African and visiting international pianists, attending piano symposia, playing in student concerts, competing at bursary competitions, as well as attending regular music concerts at the Conservatory.

Piano students who complete their studies at the School of Music enter the professional world as well-rounded instrumentalists, accompanists and music educators. The piano division is very proud of its past graduates, many of whom have very successful careers both in South Africa and internationally.
