Applications for undergraduate music study in 2027 are now OPEN!

Thank you for your interest in studying with us. Carefully follow all the steps below to ensure a smooth application and selection process.

1 ~ Apply online for admission to North-West University

• Find information on the undergraduate music programmes, including entry requirements, to determine for which programme you qualify.
• Follow the steps at https://studies.nwu.ac.za/studies/apply to submit your application for admission.
• Closing date: 30 June 2026
• If you experience any difficulties with your application for admission, please watch this video or contact the SIS Call Centre for assistance: 0860 169 698.

2 ~ Submit audition videos online

• View the audition requirements for the different programmes.
• View the technical requirements for the audition videos.
• Submit your audition videos and other required information at https://nwumusic.co.za/audition-for-2027
• Closing date: 13 July 2026

3 ~ Selection tests at the Conservatory

• The results of the first round of auditions will be announced by 3 August 2026 in an e-mail and SMS to all applicants. (Please contact the School of Music from 4 August 2026 if you haven't received any communication by then.)
• Only the applicants who have passed the first round of auditions will be invited for a second round of selection at the Conservatory in Potchefstroom on 22 August 2026.

4 ~ Final results and admissions

• The final results of the selection process will be announced by 30 September 2026 in an e-mail and SMS to all applicants. (Please contact the School of Music from 7 October 2026 if you haven't received any communication by then.)
• The successful applicants will be provisionally admitted to music study, pending the results of the Matric exams (if applicable).
