The NWU Symphonic Wind Ensemble was founded in 2010 by the former School Director, Prof Karendra Devroop. Mr André Oosthuizen has been the conductor since 2013.
All woodwind and brass students at the NWU School of Music perform in the Wind Ensemble. Participation is also open to other students and staff of the university, as well as members of the public, after successful completion of an audition.
The Wind Ensemble has an active performance schedule throughout the year. Some of the annual performances include a combined concert with the Zephyros Symphonic Winds, both in Potchefstroom and Klerksdorp, as well as in Lover's Lane on the Potchefstroom Campus.
